Who Should Attend?

Construction site managers and senior site supervisors or anyone who currently holds a valid and in date Site Management Safety Training Scheme SMSTS certificate. The certificate has to be renewed every five years by attending this SMSTS Refresher course. Please note that expired certs and grace periods for expired certificate renewals are no longer able to join this course.

Joining Instructions

The candidate(s) should bring with them a note of their National Insurance number, as this is required for certificate issue. , , , , , , If you are intending to claim the CSkills grant against this training, we also need the CSkills registration number.

Course Agenda

Health and safety law, including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act and Construction Design and Management Regulations. Policies, risk assessments, and method statements. Induction, training, communication, and leadership for effective worker engagement. Inspection, audit, and statutory forms, notices, and registers. Accident prevention, control, reporting, and investigation.

Management of health and welfare facilities, including stress and mental health at work, drugs and alcohol, and control of substances hazardous to health. Specific topics such as lead, asbestos, dust and fumes, noise, vibration, and manual handling.

Site organisation, including fire prevention and control, dangerous substances, electrical safety, temporary works, and plant and work equipment. Mobile plant and vehicles, lifting operations and equipment, and safety for mobile workforce and drivers.

Work at Height Regulations, covering safe working at height, common access equipment, scaffolding, fall arrest and suspension equipment, excavations, underground and overhead services, and confined spaces. Course duration 2 days..

Welcome to The Training Centre in Milton Keynes! Getting here is straightforward, but we recommend arriving early, especially if youre driving. Parking right outside is quite limited, and larger vehicles like vans or lorries wont find space nearby. However, you can find free parking on Lyon Road, though it tends to fill up quickly.To reach us, head west on Rampart Way from the A5, take the 4th exit at the roundabout onto the M54 ramp, and merge onto the M6. Accreditation

Successful candidates of the SMSTS Site Management 2 Day Refresher training course will receive a ConstructionSkills Site Safety Plus certificate. This certificate is highly recognized in the construction industry and is a requirement for many job positions.

The SMSTS certificate is valid for five years, after which it must be renewed by attending the SMSTS Refresher course. The course includes a compulsory examination paper consisting of 25 questions selected by the CITB. A pass is achieved by scoring over 80 on the exam.
