Who Should Attend?

Construction site managers and senior site supervisors or anyone who currently holds a valid and in date Site Management Safety Training Scheme SMSTS certificate. The certificate has to be renewed every five years by attending this SMSTS Refresher course. Please note that expired certs and grace periods for expired certificate renewals are no longer able to join this course.

Course Agenda

Health and safety law, including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act and Construction Design and Management Regulations. Policies, risk assessments, and method statements. Induction, training, communication, and leadership for effective worker engagement. Inspection, audit, and statutory forms, notices, and registers. Accident prevention, control, reporting, and investigation. ##$$##Management of health and welfare facilities, including stress and mental health at work, drugs and alcohol, and control of substances hazardous to health. Specific topics such as lead, asbestos, dust and fumes, noise, vibration, and manual handling. ##$$##Site organisation, including fire prevention and control, dangerous substances, electrical safety, temporary works, and plant and work equipment. Mobile plant and vehicles, lifting operations and equipment, and safety for mobile workforce and drivers. ##$$##Work at Height Regulations, covering safe working at height, common access equipment, scaffolding, fall arrest and suspension equipment, excavations, underground and overhead services, and confined spaces. Training Venue

DIRECTIONS & PARKING Directions to the venue from the station car park Walk up hill over the railway crossing and take the first turning on the LHS (Solomon Road) and then the first turning on the RHS (Ivy Street), the venue is then approx. 150 yards up hill on the LHS. From Sittingbourne direction to the station car park Follow the A2 into Rainham High Street and pass the new Medical Centre on right-hand side. At the Traffic Lights turn right heading down Station Road and cross over the railway crossing; a pay and display car park is on the right-hand side. (approx. £5.50 a day). From Gillingham direction to the station car park For parking follow the A2 into Rainham High Street and pass Hidsons Kia Garage on the left-hand side, continue and go straight over the mini roundabout until you reach the traffic lights, turn left heading down Station Road and cross over the railway crossing; a pay and display car park is on the right-hand side. (approx. £5.50 a day). Directions to the venue from the A2 car park Turn right out of the car park, taking the 2nd road on the right onto Ivy Street. Our venue is on the right-hand side approx. 150 yards down. From Sittingbourne direction to the A2 car park Follow the A2 into Rainham, the car park is on the right-hand side just pass the ASDA garage. From Gillingham direction to the A2 car park Follow the A2 into Rainham, pass the Hidsons Citroen garage on the right-hand side, just after the traffic lights at the bottom of the hill turn left into the car park.. Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided on arrival and are available throughout the day. Due to the COVID situation lunch will not be provided so we advise bringing your own, however food can be purchased at local convenience stores during breaks.

Accreditation

Successful candidates of the SMSTS Site Management 2 Day Refresher training course will receive a ConstructionSkills Site Safety Plus certificate. This certificate is highly recognized in the construction industry and is a requirement for many job positions.##$$##The SMSTS certificate is valid for five years, after which it must be renewed by attending the SMSTS Refresher course. The course includes a compulsory examination paper consisting of 25 questions selected by the CITB.
