Who Should Attend?

Construction site managers and senior site supervisors or anyone who currently holds a valid and in date Site Management Safety Training Scheme SMSTS certificate. The certificate has to be renewed every five years by attending this SMSTS Refresher course. Please note that expired certs and grace periods for expired certificate renewals are no longer able to join this course.

Joining Instructions

Each delegate must have an in date CITB SMSTS certificate, this must be supplied prior to the training.

Course Agenda

Health and safety law, including the Health and Safety at Work etc. Act and Construction Design and Management Regulations. Policies, risk assessments, and method statements. Induction, training, communication, and leadership for effective worker engagement. Inspection, audit, and statutory forms, notices, and registers. Accident prevention, control, reporting, and investigation.

Management of health and welfare facilities, including stress and mental health at work, drugs and alcohol, and control of substances hazardous to health. Specific topics such as lead, asbestos, dust and fumes, noise, vibration, and manual handling.

Site organisation, including fire prevention and control, dangerous substances, electrical safety, temporary works, and plant and work equipment. Mobile plant and vehicles, lifting operations and equipment, and safety for mobile workforce and drivers.

Work at Height Regulations, covering safe working at height, common access equipment, scaffolding, fall arrest and suspension equipment, excavations, underground and overhead services, and confined spaces. Course duration 2 days..

Welcome to the Bristol Training Centre! Our venue is conveniently located in the town of Bristol, with a postcode of BS137TT. The centre is easily accessible through Davis Access Ltd, located at Unit 4, Bakers Park, Bishopsworth. We want to make sure you are comfortable during your training, so we provide tea, coffee, and water for refreshments. Our directions are simple and easy to follow. From the M5 motorway, take exit 18 towards A4/A403 and continue onto Portway/A4. Then, take the A3029 exit towards A38/Bristol and follow Winterstoke Rd/A3029. Along the way, youll pass by landmarks such as Ashton Gate Stadium on Winterstoke Rd and the Bedminster Cricket Club on Hartcliffe Way. Once you reach the roundabout, take the 3rd exit onto Winterstoke Rd/A3029 and turn left onto Sheene Rd/B3122. Continue onto Parson St and then onto Hartcliffe Way. Turn right onto Novers Hill and then left onto Cater Road. Our centre, Unit 4, will be on your right. We cant wait to welcome you to our training centre in Bristol. Accreditation

Successful candidates of the SMSTS Site Management 2 Day Refresher training course will receive a ConstructionSkills Site Safety Plus certificate. This certificate is highly recognized in the construction industry and is a requirement for many job positions.

The SMSTS certificate is valid for five years, after which it must be renewed by attending the SMSTS Refresher course. The course includes a compulsory examination paper consisting of 25 questions selected by the CITB. A pass is achieved by scoring over 80 on the exam.
